Tagmaster
Tagmaster is a web-based tool that helps indexers, content experts, and authors apply semantic tags to content at all levels of granularity. Hundreds of thousands of pages of content have been tagged with Tagmaster using the Cortex medical taxonomy and other domain-specific taxonomies. In conjunction with Cortex and Totem, Tagmaster provides a structured WYSIWYG environment for indexers to apply semantic tags to a range of content types.

- Tagmaster can be configured to support a variety of tagging depths, including article/chapter level, section level, paragraph level, image level, table level, video/audio/multimedia level, and other granular content levels.
- Tagmaster is a WYSIWYG "anywhere, anytime" web application that is designed for indexing teams without specific technology expertise.
- Custom content loading routines automatically load content into Tagmaster directly from production systems and deliver semantically enriched content back to those systems. Customized import and export procedures automatically transfer content between Tagmaster and content management systems for seamless workflow integration.
- Application-managed permissions allow for control over access and tagging assignments, including the ability to add preview and review stages.
- Semantic consistency—among diverse users and disparate content objects—through Tagmaster's integration with Totem, Semedica's taxonomy management system. Tagmaster inserts semantic tags directly into the data so they are available to be used by all applications and output channels.
- Tagmaster's email messaging system automatically alerts taggers and managers when new content is loaded, has been tagged, or is off schedule. Reports measure tagging output and efficiency by tagger.
Connection to Taxonomy
It is vital that any tagging application be strongly tied to a formal taxonomy to enable consistency and interoperability. The high level of integration between Totem and Tagmaster provides complete conformance between the formal taxonomy and the information assets being tagged.
